Get your kicks with Route 66
Route 66 is a vintage rock band, based in Surrey. We're a group of experienced musicians, old enough to know better, who play a wide range of music: sixties and seventies pop & rock, rock & roll, some country and blues - and even a bit of jazz. Nice. And yes, I am a member. We play for fun. Our own and the audiences. This means you'll recognise some of the songs, sing along with others and maybe dance to some more. From the Beatles to Van Morrison, via the Kinks and the Stones. We're great for parties, pubs and events where there's a mix of people. As long as you're not cool, tragically hip or have sensitive hearing, chances are you'll love us. We are normally a five-piece line-up - guitar, keyboards, flute, bass and drums. And vocals, of course. We're all experienced musicians with a chequered past and can also perform as an acoustic duo, a jazz trio or a four-piece beat group. Contact us if you'd like to discuss your event - or read on below for more information. See me play Route 66 with the legendary Dr Feelgood here. Testimonials
Over the past few years, we've played at many different events: pubs; more pubs; golf, tennis and sports clubs; 50th, 60th and 70th birthday parties; marquees, gardens and hotels; Balls; a Royal Wedding party; dinner dances; clubs: from the local British Legion to the Kennel Club in Mayfair. Oh , and a few pubs. Here are what some of our satisfied clients had to say. |

“Route 66 are something of a local institution – in fact, most of them are old enough to live in one! But for anyone who appreciates hearing good music from the last 50 or 60 years, played by a talented group of guys the same age, this is the band to see. We book them regularly to play at the King Billy: they always attract a good crowd and create a great atmosphere. Singers from the audience and over-enthusiastic dancers are all made to feel welcome. Starting with acoustic, through jazz and blues, to sixties pop and rock, their repertoire is vast – and seemingly inexhaustible! A great night for music lovers of all ages.” - Mark Foulger, King William IV, West Horsley
"Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Route 66 for another great evenings entertainment at the club. The music was brilliant and the band's enthusiasm made it a fantastic night. Can't wait for the next one!" - John Thornton, Chairman Horsley Sports Club. “I booked Route 66 for my 50th birthday party, which was held in a marquee in the garden last summer. It was a great success and everyone loved the band - one elderly relative even wanted to take them all home, especially the drummer! They played a wide selection of music which everyone really enjoyed and my guests – of all ages – couldn’t seem to resist joining in and dancing.” Dr VL – Leatherhead |
“Route 66 have played for several of our village community events and private parties: I am also often to be found in our local pubs when they are playing. With Route 66 on stage you can be assured of a packed dance floor from early on, the only problem is trying to get folks off the dance floor at closing time. As an event organiser I have had many complimentary comments on how brilliant the band are and I was very grateful for the bands willingness to accommodate everyone's needs and nothing seemed too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and look forward to working with them in the future - they are all great guys.” - Lindy Elliott, Horsley Parish Council.
“Route 66 excelled themselves, as we knew they would. Despite the rain, the residents of the Horsleys turned out in force - over 2,000 braved the elements. Thank you all so much. ” – Horsley ‘Party in the Park’ committee. “Route 66 have played many, many times at Horsley Sports Club, where they are known and loved for their talent, versatility, good humour and above all, willingness to buy drinks for committee members . Club members love to join in with the oldies, get up to sing with the band, and dance in an unseemly manner. It’s all good fun and that’s what Route 66 are all about. Having said that, they are surprisingly good musicians and can sound impressively professional if you don’t keep an eye on them.” - Dr Phil Jones, Horsley Sports & Tennis Club. |
